Terms and conditions

Last updated 3 November 2026.
Draft. This document hasn't been reviewed by a solicitor yet and the company details are still to be added. It will be finalised before LC9 Defence is publicly released.

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use the LC9 Defence app, website or account. If you buy LC9 Premium, the subscription and cancellation terms also apply. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use LC9 Free on your own computers, and to use LC9 Premium on up to 3 computers while your subscription is active. You may not resell the software, remove its protections or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows.

3. What LC9 Defence can and can't do

LC9 Defence helps detect and remove malware. No security product can detect or prevent every threat, so we don't promise that it will. Keep Windows up to date and keep backups of important files.

LC9 Defence may sometimes flag a safe file (a "false positive"). Quarantined files can be restored. We don't delete files permanently unless you choose to.

4. Our responsibility to you

We provide LC9 Defence with reasonable care and skill. If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or compensate you. We are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses: LC9 Free and Premium are for personal use.

5. Your account

Keep your password secure. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

6. Changes

We may update these terms. We'll tell you about important changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel Premium before the change.

7. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of the UK nation where you live.
