Is LC9 Free really free?
Yes. It scans, detects and removes malware with no time limit, no account and no payment card. We never find a threat and then ask you to pay to remove it.
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free scans when you ask it to. Premium will add protection that runs all the time: real-time file checking, Ransomware Shield, web protection, scheduled scans and automatic updates. Premium is in development and not on sale yet.
Can I use LC9 Defence alongside Microsoft Defender?
Yes. LC9 Free only scans when you ask it to, so it doesn't conflict with Microsoft Defender or other real-time antivirus.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Scanning uses definitions stored on your PC. You only need the internet to download updates.
Do you upload my files?
No. Scanning happens on your computer and your files stay there.
Will LC9 delete my files?
Not without asking. Threats are moved to an encrypted quarantine, and you can restore them. Files are only deleted for good if you choose Delete.
LC9 flagged a file I know is safe. What do I do?
Choose 'Not a threat' on the scan results, or restore it from Quarantine. LC9 will stop detecting that exact file. You can undo this in Settings.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
Windows 11 and Windows 10 (22H2).
Does LC9 catch every threat?
No antivirus does, and we won't pretend otherwise. Keep Windows updated, be careful with email attachments and downloads, and back up important files.
How much will Premium cost?
£9.99 a month or £99.99 a year, for up to 3 PCs, with a 7-day free trial.
How do I cancel Premium?
From My subscription in your account, in a couple of clicks. Premium keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
